Aliyana: A Modern Display Font for Web Design

I was working on a new project for a boutique online store that sells handcrafted jewelry. The client wanted something unique, something that would stand out in a sea of generic e-commerce sites. That’s when I stumbled upon Aliyana, a display font with a natural and elegant feel.

The first thing I noticed about Aliyana was how it balanced simplicity with character. It wasn’t overly ornate or too minimal. It had a clean, modern look but with subtle flourishes that gave it personality. I decided to test it in the hero section of the website, where the main headline would sit above a full-width image of a necklace.

Aliyana looked amazing there. It didn’t overpower the image, but it drew the eye naturally toward the text. The spacing between letters felt just right—neither too tight nor too loose. It had a softness to it that matched the brand’s aesthetic, which is all about organic beauty and craftsmanship.

Next, I tested it in different areas of the site. For the product titles, I used a slightly bolder weight of Aliyana. It made the names of the products pop without being distracting. In the call-to-action buttons, I went with a lighter weight and paired it with a sans serif font for the button text. This contrast helped guide the user’s attention effectively.

One thing I always consider when choosing a font is readability, especially on mobile screens. Aliyana performed well even at smaller sizes. I checked it on a few different devices and found that the legibility stayed consistent across platforms. It also worked well against both light and dark backgrounds, which is important for ensuring accessibility and visual clarity.

When it comes to typography, pairing fonts is key. Aliyana is a display font, so I knew it needed a complementary body font. I settled on a clean sans serif like Montserrat for the body copy. This combination gave the site a polished yet approachable feel. The contrast between the two fonts helped establish a clear visual hierarchy, making the content easier to scan and read.

Aliyana also showed promise in other design contexts beyond the main website. I experimented with using it in blog headers and promotional banners. It added a touch of elegance without being too formal. For the digital brand kit, I included Aliyana as one of the primary typefaces, alongside a few supporting fonts for different use cases like social media posts and email newsletters.

Another consideration was the font’s availability. Aliyana came with a range of weights and styles, which gave me flexibility in how I used it. It supported multiple languages, which was great for the store’s international audience. And since it was a commercial font, I could confidently use it across all the client’s web assets, from landing pages to marketing materials.

As I continued refining the design, I paid close attention to how Aliyana affected the overall brand experience. It contributed to a sense of professionalism and consistency. Users seemed to engage more with the content, probably because the typography felt intentional and well-thought-out.

For sections that required more emphasis, like feature headings or testimonials, I used Aliyana again. Its versatility allowed it to work in both decorative and functional roles. It wasn’t just a pretty font—it had real utility in guiding the user through the page.

One challenge I faced was ensuring that Aliyana didn’t become too dominant. I made sure to use it sparingly, mostly for headlines and accents. Overusing a display font can lead to visual clutter, so it was important to maintain balance. By limiting its use to key elements, I kept the design focused and uncluttered.

Overall, Aliyana proved to be a valuable addition to the project. It brought a fresh, natural feel to the website while maintaining readability and usability. Whether it was used in the hero section, product titles, or promotional banners, it consistently delivered a polished and professional look.

If you're looking for a display font that combines elegance with functionality, Aliyana is worth considering. It has the potential to elevate your designs and help create a more cohesive and engaging brand experience. Just remember to use it thoughtfully, pairing it with complementary fonts and ensuring it works well across all screen sizes and backgrounds.
